Distilled water

E-mail Print PDF

As the ingredients journey continues I cannot help but notice the various types of water used in products.  There is plain water, spring water, distilled water and even more variety.  Isn't water just water?  I'm afraid not.

Distilled water is water in it's purest form - two molecules of hydrogen to one molecule of oxygen.  Everyday tap water and/or spring water is heated to the point of boiling.  The steam is captured and begins to convert into pure water (with a pH of 7.0).  This process forces the tap or spring water to leave behind the minerals, chemicals and other nutrients that once existed in the formulation prior to heating.

If you see distilled water on your label, just know that you have pure water in your product.

More benefits of distilled water:
•    Great for cleansing or detox
•    Allow nutrients to flow freely throughout the body

Jane Carter: Wrap & Roll

Yes, I was excited to use Jane Carter's products!  Here's another one - Jane Carter Wrap and Roll .  After a thorough shampoo and conditioning treatment, I used this products to set my clients' tresses!

I have used a number of mousse products in my day and this has now been added to my list of favorites.  Oftentimes when you use too much mousse, you will get a crusty residue after the hair drys.  I hate that.  So, I put Jane Carter to the test.  I applied a great deal of mousse to my clients' hair.  In some instances the white was pouring out as I rolled the hair.  I was laughing to myself, but I had to do it.  I owe my readers a thorough review, right?

Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS)

This ingredient can be found in many of our hair and skincare products.  Its primary function is to remove dirt, oil and buildup regardless of the surface.  I say this because the same ingredient that we spread on our body surfaces is also used (in higher concentrations of course) in engine degreasers and floor cleaners!  Can you imagine using the same chemical to clean your face/hair to clean your engine?!
