Kiss My Face: Honey Calendula Ultra Moisturizer

E-mail Print PDF

I have tried a number of lotions and actually have truly fallen in love with them.  Unfortunately, I am not disciplined enough to order them as routinely as I should.  That puts me in a bind.  I have to rush to the store and purchase an alternative 'safe' lotion.

On a random trip to the Vitamin Shoppe, I stumbled upon Kiss My Face Moisturizer Honey & Calendula .  Realizing that honey is a natural humectant and that calendula is a healing herb, I knew this had to be a good thing.  I flipped over the bottle to check out the ingredients and while I did have a few questions, I did see in bold: "This product contains no animal ingredients, no parabens or artificial colors and was not tested on animals."

Fragrance

The lotion has a very nice fragrance.  It is clean and sweet.  My entire family was using it.

Consistency

No joke about it, this lotion is for extra dry skin (as listed on the bottle).  The consistency is extremely thick.  You will spend some extra time rubbing it it.  Yes, it is that thick.  Given that skin is more likely to experience dryness in the winter months, it will definitely work well.

Functionality

Moisture retention, fragrance and feeling of smooth skin stayed with me until I washed it off.  The lotion is great!  Again, you will spend some extra time rubbing it in, but it is worth it.  Rubbing is not necessarily a bad thing.  That's an accidental massage of sorts!

Investment: Approximately $10.00 USD

Joie: Mygel

After hearing so much about this product, I decided to give it a try.  Once I did - there was no turning back.

Fragrance

It has no special 'ooh-la-la' fragrance to it.  It is simply a gel that works.

Consistency

This gel has the consistency of Let's Jam.  Do your remember that stuff?!

Quick story: When Let's Jam first came out, I slathered it on my head to slcik it back into a shiny ponytail.  I was on a field trip for school and laid my head back on the leather bus seat.  Got up and guess what song they were singing to me...."You've go the Soul Glow"!!!  Yeah, shine all over the seat. LOL!

Anywhoo, consider this to be a more natural version of Let's Jam without the soul glow effect.  It is a tacky gel to the touch and does not get hard or stiff.

Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES)
We have already discussed Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS), but what about Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES)?  They are NOT the same chemical.  Let's talk about it...

SLS is a harsh detergent that is found in a number of our products and is quite dangerous.  Think about your skin absorbing harsh chemicals in extremely small amounts over time.  It adds up.
