After Affects: Natural Handmade Goat's Milk Soap

E-mail Print PDF

I have heard a lot about goat's milk for hair and C. Dawn was kind enough to send me some of this goodness in the form of a bar of soap.

Packaging

The soap was labeled with the company brand and shrink-wrapped.  Nice touch.  It's something about small businesses with big business mentality that get me.  The shrink-wrapping was very appropriate for the soap.

Fragrance

Yum.  I could smell it through the plastic.  I had the passion blossom variety.

Functionality

Natural soap makers get me every time.  You can see little pieces of natural goodness throughout.  The ridges in the soap made for better handling, which I most definitely appreciated.  I'm accustomed to using the Trader Joe brand, and it has no ridges.  If you're worried about dropping the soap, she's got you covered.  Nice touch.

One thing that I would change about the soap is the 'bleeding'.  I'm not sure if this is normal with most natural soaps, but because this particular soap was red, my white washcloth was also a bit red.  I got over that quickly, though.

Soft skin with a hint of yum.  The fragrance may come across as a bit overpowering while in the plastic, but once applied to the skin you'll have a soft fragrance added to the skin.  I really liked that.  This is a great night-time bar in my opinion.  I say this because of the specific fragrance I tried and how it made me feel at night versus in the morning.  Maybe it has something to do with what was used in the bar.  One thing about natural products, is you are afforded the opportunity to experience an aromatherapy session as you use them.

I also say this because I finished the bar within one week.  Given the price and the longevity of the soap, I would have to call this my special soap.

Investment: $7.50

Poetisa's Palette: Massage Candle- Coconut

Scent

Yummy, lovely goodness.

Texture/Action

The instructions said to let the candle burn for 3 - 5 minutes and to then use the melted wax for a massage.  Five minutes passed and there was not enough melted candle to set off my well anticipated (and deserved) massage.

Canola oil

Not too long ago, I reviewed African Royale Hot Six Oil.  As always, I pay attention to the ingredient list and this time I saw canola oil.  I had been experiencing some skin issues and this oil seemed to calm it all down.  This experience caused me to ponder the ingredients. The top five ingredients were - olive oil, canola oil, wheat germ oil, sweet almond oil and safflower oil respectively.

Having researched and heard of the benefits of some of the others, I was curious about canola oil.  I cook with it from time to time, have read some conflicting opinions about it in the past and now I'm finding it as the second ingredient in a product that seemed to work well for me. So, let's break this down!
