ESSENCE's 'Hot Hair' issue

E-mail Print PDF

All the hair and beauty lovers out there get a little excited with the 'Hot Hair' special edition issue of ESSENCE is set to make an appearance.  The magazine, my favorite by the way, does an excellent job of showcasing hairstyles with foundations of relaxed, natural and even weaved coifs.  There is so much diversity with hair, that it all must be respected and appreciated.  In my mind, hair is art.

This edition also includes product advice, hair care regimens and more!  One thing I particularly enjoyed about this issue was the fact that my city, Richmond, Va., represented!  Oh, yes we did!  Three salons in Richmond, Va. were thanked by ESSENCE (page 19):

Congratulations to you!!!  If you read this, please share the photos for which you can take credit.  I'm excited!  Oh, and there was yet another surprise. (Tee-hee-hee).  Well, your girl was representing on a full page (94) with a style and look inspired by Ciara.

I showed my son the picture and he said, "I don't like it.  I like it when your hair is... [he begins waving his hands all over his head]."  I love him.

The issue will be on newsstands until December 16th, so go ahead and grab a copy and share your thoughts.  There are some wonderful styles in the magazine.  Very inspiring!  Great job, ESSENCE!

Jane Carter: Nutrient Replenishing Conditioner

Jane Carter Nutrient Replenishing ConditionerSo, of course after the shampoo it is only right to condition.  As you've discovered in a previous post, shampoo usually strips your hair of its natural oils - hence the need for a conditioner.  After shampooing with Jane Carter's Moisture Nourishing Shampoo and rinsing, I applied the Jane Carter Nutrient Replenishing Conditioner .  Again, the smell was amazing.  It was very soft and subtle - reminiscent of a musk.  It reminded me of gardenia.

Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES)
We have already discussed Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS), but what about Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES)?  They are NOT the same chemical.  Let's talk about it...

SLS is a harsh detergent that is found in a number of our products and is quite dangerous.  Think about your skin absorbing harsh chemicals in extremely small amounts over time.  It adds up.
