Adiva: The Refresher

Adiva: The RefresherA few weekends ago I attended the 6th Annual BOCA - Soul Yoga Movement & Wellness Expo.  There was so much that came out of that expo.  In due time, I will definitely share!

Well, one of the great things about expos is the plethora of vendors providing unique products and services.  As I'm walking through the vendor area, I couldn't help but notice a beautiful booth with the name Adiva and so many lovely earthy colors surrounding.  I saw lots of bamboo.  I loooooooove bamboo!  So, I had to stop by!

The next thing that caught my attention was the yummy fragrance.  I mean, you couldn't pass by without smelling it, seriously.  So, I'm beginning to pick up products, sniff and you know by this point I'm yapping it up with the product creator and her lovely mother.  Good times!  I was easily persuaded to try the the scrub - amazing, but I'll do a separate review on that.

Jojoba Oil

Deriving from the seed of the jojoba plant, jojoba oil can be found in a number of natural skin and hair care products.  While it is called jojoba oil, it is actually a wax extracted from the seed of the jojoba plant.  The primary reason why it can be found in many hair and skin products is because of its uncanny molecular resemblance to human sebum.

Sebum: Sebum is the ‘natural oil’ that many in the natural hair community fight long and hard to preserve through the use of sulfate-free shampoo and a host or other hair care practices.  Produced by the sebaceous glands, this natural oil (or wax) is designed to coat and protect the hair (and skin) from damage or drying out.  Because of the natural twists and curves of natural hair, the sebum cannot travel the entire length of the hair shaft resulting in dryer hair and a less brilliant sheen.
