As promised, I am updating you on the very first twisting session. If you recall from Week 3, I had quite a bit of new growth. I was amazed at how much my hair had grown.
My very first twisting session was done on February 3, 2012 - exactly one month after I decided twisted my hair making the decision to transition to locks. So, now the third of the month is my day for personal lock love.
Shampoo: I went with one of my faves - BoBeam Goat's Milk and Honey shampoo bar and even with this hair the results are still the same.
Conditioner: I did not use any extra conditioner and simply relied on the goat's milk to do it's thing (moisturize) and of course the honey to hold onto the required moisture.
Twisting agent: Well, in my busy moments I transport supplies from salon to home and home to salon and this time I left my beloved gel at the salon. I searched for gel at home and all I could find was...EcoStyler. So, I used that this time. I'm not proud of it, but it's the truth. Best believe I will have the favorite gel by my side next time around.
As a twisting agent, the gel works fine. I actually had the brown kind. I know, shame on me! I couldn't help but notice the brown residue on my hair immediately afterwards. Yuck! March 3rd is right around the corner so I can start anew!
After twisting my hair and sitting under the dryer, I will say that I understand how my locked clients feel now. There's nothing like a fresh set of twisted locks! Confession: I whipped my hair back and forth!!! LOL! Another confession: I ran out of clips and so what you see are bobby pins. Hey, things happen...!
Once the whipping subsided, I decided to whip up a quick updo. As I approach Week 7, I'm wondering what styles I will try next. I will be sure to keep you posted. So far, I am loving this!

While on one of my aimless trips to Marshall's, I came across this goodness in the beauty section. We are already aware of the
This ingredient can be found in many of our hair and skincare products. Its primary function is to remove dirt, oil and buildup regardless of the surface. I say this because the same ingredient that we spread on our body surfaces is also used (in higher concentrations of course) in engine degreasers and floor cleaners! Can you imagine using the same chemical to clean your face/hair to clean your engine?!
