Simone's Loc Journey, Vol. 4

E-mail Print PDF

Let's catch up with Simone.  Well, she is doing fabulous!  She is officially locked!  We had a bit of back-and-forth in identifying the right locking gel/product for her, but I think we have it now.  Reviews for each of the locking gels we tried are forthcoming.

This photo is dated June 29th, which means she had been transitioning to locs for eight months at this point.  Wow!

Recently, we've been talking about when she might consider getting rid of the extensions.  No pressure, Mone. Realizing that this is a journey, it's all about when you're ready.  A few of the kinky twists have decided to leave and she has let them go.  It amazes me how the real hair battles with the synthetic hair and WINS!  I love it!

I applaud you, Simone, for taking this journey.  We laugh when she comes in for her appointments because every time she comes in I say the same thing. "Simooooooone, I can't believe you're locking."  LOL!  She and I have been tight for years and I've seen her embrace many styles, but natural was not on the radar.  Congrats girlie!

And uhhh...no worries those other photos are coming. Love you much!

Taliah Waajid: African Healing Oyl

Taliah Waajid's African Healing OylTaliah Waajid continues to impress me with her Black Earth Product line.  The African Healing Oyl is no exception.  I like to think of this oil as a nutrient shake for your hair.  Your tresses will literally drink this stuff up!  The result is shiny, healthy-looking tresses.

Grapeseed Oil

When it comes to natural beauty this natural oil has many benefits.

Health Benefits

According to a study University of Maryland report, grapeseed oil has been proven to lower cholesterol and high blood pressure.  In addition the extract has inhibited the growth of cancer cells (in test tubes only).

If you have time to relax a local massage table, this may be the oil you want to request as it decreases stress in the body.  Because it comes from grapes, you can definitely consume this oil.  This oil is naturally low in cholesterol and due to its actual vitamin and mineral content, can actually be a safe alternative.
