July 8th was the day. I get a call from one of the All Tressed Up Queens - Nicole Edison. She spoke two words - "I'm ready." Well folks, our Queen Nicole Edison was ready for her Big Chop! I was elated! She was wearing a curly 'piece' for quite some time and just wanted to let it all go. And guess who did the honors? That's right!!! All Tressed Up, baby!
Having been natural for a while, I can still remember the feeling when I did my big chop. It is so emotional. After a shampoo and deep condition, I began to chop it up with the shears first. We still had not arrived at our final destination. As the hair began to dry I opted to go for the clippers with Nicole supporting every move. I watched as this beautiful spirit emerged.
Let me tell you, I saw this woman go through emotions of beauty uncertainty to pure confidence. I am honored to have witnessed and have been a part of such a beautiful transformation. To me, one of the most beautiful things is when a person accepts the raw self - the true being - unaltered. I witnessed this Queen accept herself as is and take a deep breath of 'I Love Me'. Her inner light was a mere flicker at first and then it radiated from the inside out.
Her description of this whole ordeal: Liberating. Congratulations, Queen. Thank you.
All Tressed Up...a natural obsession with all things hair and beauty.

This ingredient can be found in many of our hair and skincare products. Its primary function is to remove dirt, oil and buildup regardless of the surface. I say this because the same ingredient that we spread on our body surfaces is also used (in higher concentrations of course) in engine degreasers and floor cleaners! Can you imagine using the same chemical to clean your face/hair to clean your engine?!
