The Obsession

Can you spend an hour or more in beauty supply stores?  Do you have multiple subscriptions to or can't help but pick up the latest hair magazine?  Is your 'under the sink' storage area so full that you have a special product area for your impulse purchases?  It's offiicial - you're obsessed.

The Attitude

All Tressed Up is more than the name of a website, it's an attitude.  Ask anyone - when you look good you do for the most part, feel good.  This website gives the everyday woman and/or man the opportunity to share just how wonderful you are!  Are you All Tressed Up today?

Weekly Webcam #16: Whoissugar inspired

I'm baaa-aaaaack!  I'm returning to show you a straight hair-do.  This first one was completely jacked from 'Whoissugar'.  That's right, your girl was on YouTube after writing an Examiner article, went back the next morning and saw this video in my suggested videos.

I posted one of her videos some time ago and after seeing how cute and simple this style was; I just had to try it and of course share with you!  My hair is not as long or as full as whoissugar yet it still worked.

This style will work for un-straightened hair (although it may not render as much hang time), weaves, braids, locs, and of course straightened hair.

I wore this style to my son's school and the children are accustomed to seeing me with my regular free hair.  The looks were comical when they saw me.  One of the receptionists thought I was visiting school to play a role in a Thanksgiving play.  LOL!  This hairstyle was so much fun!

Thanks whoissugar!

In lieu of a headband, I decided to create my own with braided hair extensions, wrapped it around my head and tied it in the back.

Curls: Goddess Curls

In one of the Weekly Webcam styles (Twisty Locs) I used Curls: Goddess Curl Gel to set my twists.  I wanted to try something different so I hopped on over to Target and snagged this goodness.  The thing I like about this product is the fact that it contains no parabens, mineral oil, sulfates, silicones or petrolatum oils.  It worked very well on my hair and did not have the crunchy effect of many gels.  Firm, but not so crunchy.

Silicones

As I flip through one of my favorite hair magazines carefully reading each page and interview, I couldn't help but notice tips from a certain  hairstylist who will remain anonymous for the purposes of this article.

This particular hairstylist recommended using products with silicone to enhance shine and to protect the hair from heat damage.  Nothing wrong with that, right?  Well...kind of.  You see the truth is that products which contain this chemical polymer do in fact enhance shine, manageability as well as protect the hair from heat damage in a remarkable way.  This stylist knows how to get the job done!

Let's take a moment to think about silicone in general.  Hmmm...some of our kitchen appliances are made from silicone.  These are some of the most heat resistant pans and handle holders of our time.  Do you find a bit of irony in the fact that the same material we use to cook our food is being used to help us cook our hair?  Yes, you read it right.  Truth be told, the main ingredient that you will find in many of those heat-protectants, serums, and frizz control products is in fact silicone.
