The Obsession

Can you spend an hour or more in beauty supply stores?  Do you have multiple subscriptions to or can't help but pick up the latest hair magazine?  Is your 'under the sink' storage area so full that you have a special product area for your impulse purchases?  It's offiicial - you're obsessed.

The Attitude

This recent queen I met via LB Beauty and Training Academy.  She is a beauty and will soon be able to officially provide natural hair care services in her area.  Her classic and natural beauty is worth broadcasting right here on All Tressed Up.  I just had to ask her!

As we began to connect, I found out that she has a natural hair community of her own and a new blog! Let's get to meet our most recent queen - Ria Scott.

Who does your hair?

I do my own hair and have done so for the last 1 & 1/2 years.

What are your three favorite products? Why?

My three favorite hair products are: Oyin Handmade Honey Hemp Conditioner because it makes my hair super soft and moisturized and is an all natural handmade product. I can use it as a regular conditioner, deep conditioner or a leave-in!

I love Pure Natural Blends for my sealant because they are quality oils and butters. I can get a product that I design myself or I can choose from a pre-designed blend that will cater to my needs. It leaves my hair shiny without the build-up. The best part of all is that shipping is totally FREE!

Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie is at the top of my list, as well. I can use it as a moisturizer, a styling product or just because I want to give my tresses some love. It is very versatile.

Please describe your hair routine.

I co-wash and deep condition weekly, using the Huetiful steamer for added moisture. I only shampoo once a month. I usually wear two-strand twists but change the size of them frequently. Because of my busy schedule, I rarely wear my hair out.

What is your favorite quote of the moment?

My favorite quote of the moment is one that I always told my children as they went off to school every morning: Make wise decisions, keep your hands and your nose clean and have a pure heart.

How does it feel to be selected as the All Tressed Up Queen of the Week?

I definitely feel like royalty!

Is there anything you would like to promote or share with the world?

Burt's Bees Super Shiny Grapefruit and Sugar Beet Conditioner

Burt's Bees Super Shiny Grapefruit and Sugar Beet ConditionerBurt's Bees - Grapefruit & Sugar Beet Conditioner did not let me down.  I actually used this as the conditioner of choice for my No Shampoo Ritual before I ran out.  The scent of grapefruit is refreshing.  I don't know if you're aware or not, but there are a number of beauty benefits to grapefruit.  No worries, I will be disclosing that information in the kitchen very soon.

Another reason why I love this product is that it states clearly on the label that it is 98.20% natural.  It clearly reads on the label that the product is pH Balanced, Sodium Lauryl/Laureth Sulfate Free, Paraben Free, and Phtlate Free.

The Kitchen

Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES)
We have already discussed Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS), but what about Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES)?  They are NOT the same chemical.  Let's talk about it...

SLS is a harsh detergent that is found in a number of our products and is quite dangerous.  Think about your skin absorbing harsh chemicals in extremely small amounts over time.  It adds up.
