This queen attended our Big Chop Party in April in support of Camisha's new journey. I saw what she was doing with her hair and I got excited. Here's the scoop! When she decided to embark upon the natural journey (years ago) she went from relaxed hair directly to locs. She did not have the opportunity to touch and feel her free tresses.
Because of lost experience, Candice is transitioning to free natural tresses from locs. Little by little she unravels her locs to set her loose strands free. In the process, she maintains a style that I just love! She is systematically unraveling her locs in a very stylish way. I love it!
One thing you should also know about this queen is that she has a beautiful, beautiful spirit. Wow! Do you know I shared my admiration for her earrings during the Big Chop Party and before the evening was over, she took them out of her ears and gave them to me! WOW! I'll stop here and allow you to meet this beautiful Queen - Candice.
Who does your hair?
Right now it is my cousin and I, but after I take the locs out I'm coming to someone named Kenyada.
What are your three favorite products? Why?
I haven't found any products that I completely enjoy yet. I play around with different mixtures of my own and I find my hair responds to coconut oil with a creamy base the best.
Please describe your hair routine.
I wash my hair about once every two weeks. I detangle and two-strand twist the side that is not locked and wear my hair in a ponytail or wrap for a couple of days just to give it time to be free before being cornrowed again. As for my locks, I lightly twist them as it is not my goal for my new growth to lock. Rather, my goal is to keep the hair strengthened and the ends of my new growth protected. I moisturize the locks and "free hair" with whatever I am using at the time. I also spray water on my hair once a week just to add hydration.
What is your favorite quote of the moment?
I am meditating on Psalm 27:13-- I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.
