I have known this Queen for quite some time. Recently she posted a photo that was the epitome of raw, natural, organic beauty in my eyes. Of course I commented and then asked her if she'd be interested. She obliged! I have watched this woman embrace a number of hairstyles over the years and embark upon various phases of life. She has a beautiful spirit. Let's get to know Mrs. Valarie Tyree!
Who does your hair?
Mainly, I do it myself. I call on Lydia of Shear Elegance on West Broad near the Boulevard (804) 355-3334, Syrita Major, and Tiffany of Thee Salon (804) 515-9550, when I need some help.
What are your three favorite products? Why?
Adiva Naturals shampoo and conditioner- they are natural and I love how they smells. Organic Root Stimulator Lock and Twist Gel - it’s been with me from the beginning. I used it with my two-strand twist and now with my locs.
Please describe your hair routine?
I’m not a routine person. Some days I wrap it, other days I let it hang. At night, I try to cover it with a satin cap. I usually twist it about every 2 to 3 weeks, due to it becoming frizzy.
What is your favorite quote of the moment?
Everything happens for a reason.
How does it feel to be selected as the All Tressed Up Queen of the Week?
I am honored. I feel All Tressed Up recognizes King and Queens in their natural beauty. It feels wonderful to just be honored for being who you are. Thank you!
Is there anything you would like to promote or share with the world?
Health is Wealth. Without Health, what do you have? Take care of yourself spiritually, mentally and physically.

Tea for your hair? That's right! It makes for a great rinse and depending on the type, it may also help with those gray hairs (sage)! This BoBeam variety contains a beautiful blend of calendula and chamomile.
This ingredient can be found in many of our hair and skincare products. Its primary function is to remove dirt, oil and buildup regardless of the surface. I say this because the same ingredient that we spread on our body surfaces is also used (in higher concentrations of course) in engine degreasers and floor cleaners! Can you imagine using the same chemical to clean your face/hair to clean your engine?!
