The Obsession

Can you spend an hour or more in beauty supply stores?  Do you have multiple subscriptions to or can't help but pick up the latest hair magazine?  Is your 'under the sink' storage area so full that you have a special product area for your impulse purchases?  It's offiicial - you're obsessed.

The Attitude

Queen of the Week: Felisha Jones

To be honest with you, I've never met this Queen in real-time a day in my life!  We connected virtually and I couldn't help but notice her image changing from a straight look to a more textured look until one day I saw...dah dah daaaaaahhhh...a beautiful fro.  This Queen was rocking it and I was impressed!  Let's meet our beautiful Queen, Felicia Jones...

Who does your hair?

Right now, it’s just me and my best friend. She is great with natural hair styling. I haven’t committed to a licensed stylist as of yet.

What are your three favorite products? Why?

  1. WATER – It allows me to see the natural beauty and true essence of my hair.  I love that I can run towards water, especially when it rains!
  2. Mixture of essential oils – They help my hair   dance and grow.
  3. Taliah Waajid Black Earth Products – They are made of 100% natural products, they smell wonderful, and they intensify my hair’s natural moisture and sheen.

Please describe your hair routine.

Actually, I went natural to escape the hair routine.  My hair and I go with the flow.  During the summer, I would simply wash and go with a leave-in conditioner.  I deep condition once a week with essential oils.

What is your favorite quote of the moment?

“Less is More”

How does it feel to be selected as the All Tressed Up Queen of the Week?

I’m honored. I love and appreciate the mission/vision of All Tressed Up. I enjoy sharing liberation with my sister girls. And, I love being recognized as a Queen!

Is there anything you would like to promote or share with the world?

Stop worrying about what “they” say and keep your sight on the ONE that opens your eyes each morning! Love the unique and beautiful being that God created you to be! Walk into your destiny without explanation!

Being natural feels like home! Everything about my creative style seems to just fall into place! It’s a beautiful feeling and that not-so-easy 18-month journey home was well worth the struggle. To all my transition sisters who are getting the side-eye, I salute you!  We have the option to go straight or rock our fro!

Love & Liberation!

Note: This queen is so humble that she didn't even make mention of her 'visionary-ness'!  Check her out at www.ThatJonesGirl.com!  Tons of great information to keep you motivated and focused on your vision.

Love your hair color! And that sheen and style would love to grow my hair out to that fullness.

Taliah Waajid: Enhancing Herbal Conditioner

Taliah Waajid's Enhancing Herbal ConditionerI absolutely love this conditioner.  I have tried a number of conditioners and this one gave me fantastic results.  One of my favorite styles to wear with my naturally kinky tresses is a twist out.  The key to curly/kinky hair is moisture and this products does the job.  This conditioner left my hair fluffy and light.  Your tresses will be soft to the touch while simultaneously providing a protective coating and locking in much needed moisture.

The Kitchen

Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES)
We have already discussed Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS), but what about Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES)?  They are NOT the same chemical.  Let's talk about it...

SLS is a harsh detergent that is found in a number of our products and is quite dangerous.  Think about your skin absorbing harsh chemicals in extremely small amounts over time.  It adds up.
