The Go Green Challenge

E-mail Print PDF

This natural beauty thing is quite the journey.  What began with the hair atop my head has moved into a lifelong journey of learning how to properly take care of this temple.  While it can be challenging at times and requires much discipline, it is well worth it!

On a personal note, I am going through quite a considerable amount of life changes.  I won't go into detail, but just know that this woman's life is evolving and I love the movement!  Fears are being shed, growth, maturity and understanding are all coming to the forefront.  My Creator is awesome!

Beginning August 15th (this Wednesday) we are challenging you to one salad per day!  Instead of the usual burger, sandwich or to-go order we are asking you to indulge in a salad. Do you think you can handle it?

With all of the toppings now made available, the combinations are amazing!  Use your creativity to nourish your temple and watch what happens!

To get you started, we have partnered with Noodles & Company to provide you with one of their new summertime salads for FREE!  I have FOUR free salads to give away!  Let me just tell you that these salads really taste great!  If you're a vegetarian like me, Noodles & Company allows you to substitute any meat for tofu.  Check out my review of the salads to learn more.

Challenge Dates: August 15 - 31, 2012

How to Enter

Let us know that you'd like to participate in the challenge by doing one of the following before August 15, 2012:

  • Tweet us:  "I am taking care of my Temple as a part of the @alltressedup Go Green Challenge!".

The first two to comment will receive one salad each.  There will be one selected from our Facebook community and one from Twitter.  This equals a total of FOUR FREE salads to get you started.

Update us on your progress.  Each participant will earn points as follows:

  • 1 point: Reward for each testimonial regarding your salad or the challenge via Facebook, Twitter, or a comment here.
  • 2 point: Reward for image of you with your salads for the duration of the challenge via Facebook or Twitter.
  • 3 point: Have a friend join the challenge!
  • 5 points: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it your salad recipe with photo.

Hey Tessa,

While I would LOVE you to enjoy a salad with no meat, the first goal is to consume more live raw greens (base of a salad). I want everyone to have fun with their salads. So, come on and join in. No problem.

Now, if you send a photo of a salad with hot wings on top I will laugh! LOL! Hope you'll join us!!!

Ingredient Profile: Amla

It is not uncommon that after reading an ingredient list that we stumble upon an ingredient that makes you go "Hmmm".  Well, the ingredient that has triggered my curiosity is Amla (or Indian Gooseberry).

In my quest to nurture my natural beauty from the inside, I thought you may benefit from the findings.  As we approach the new year, I thought it may also be a great idea to actually engage in an Amla experience.

Native to India, this vitamin C rich fruit is filled with antioxidants and is highly regarded in Ayurveda. Let's begin exploring the benefits of Amla from the inside out.

Health Benefits

  • Anti-microbial
  • Blood purifier
  • Decrease bad cholesterol
  • Increase good cholesterol
  • Antioxidant
  • Immunity Booster

Given that the Indian Gooseberry is native to India, how can we benefit from this highly nutritious and healing fruit?  In Ayurveda, mixing the juice of the Amla fruit with honey is considered a health tonic.  Considering its naturally bitter taste, the honey sweetens the experience.

Tip: Drink one glass of Amla juice daily
