Recap: Goddess Body Wellness Live Program

E-mail Print PDF

If you don't know by now, I love me some Angela Baker who is responsible for the Goddess Body Wellness Live program!  I had been feeling a little 'blah' and needed a 'pick me up'.  I am usually a pretty positive and upbeat person, but I noticed some random attitude and just some feelings of being 'off'.  I made the decision to do this infamous cleanse again!

The process

Consume raw fruits and vegetables for twenty-one days.  No dairy or artificial sweeteners, people!  What I love about this cleanse is that although optimal results are achieved with the strict raw fruits and vegetables, Ms. Baker makes an exception.  Your food choices must be raw or organic.  Not bad.

In addition to the food, you must drink either distilled or alkaline water as well as the herbal tea blends.  The kit you purchase contains three custom herbal blends that will be steeped as a tea and another herbal blend to bust that belly.  It is literally called 'Belly Buster' and can be mixed with water, or a juice of your choice.

The experience

In addition to me feeling 'blah', I also endured the cleanse in order to add exercise to my routine and to become more disciplined in food preparation.  I will say that this time was much more challenging than the first time because of my workload and responsibilities.  I will tell you that the first tea of the day is designed to 'clear your mind' and allow you to focus.  That has helped me to reevaluate my goals and align my actions with my priorities.  Oh yes, much has changed.

Sure, I cheated a couple of times.  I told you this time was challenging.  I confessed my cheating and my girl just pushed me harder - a much needed push.

Winner: The Go Green Challenge

E-mail Print PDF

Have you been wondering?  Well, those that joined the event via Facebook have already received the news.  It's only fair that we share it with you - our beautiful subscribers!

First, allow me to thank each of you who participated in the challenge - directly or in spirit.  The challenge went well and we received a great response on Instagram with our daily posts.  Thanks for the encouragement everyone!

I will say that in only two weeks; I lost my sweet tooth.  I was disappointed and proud at the same time.  I really have it bad, but with the one salad per day consumption - the 'need' was curbed quite a bit.   I like that.

And now for the moment you've all been waiting for - the winner.  The winner of the Go Green Challenge is Ms. Angela Baker!  What is so funny about her winning is that she told me at the onset - "Go ahead and give me the cutting board!"  Well, I guess she was right.  She will receive the Noodles & Company tote, cutting board and twenty dollar credit towards fresh greens from Happily Natural Day.  This is all because she not only consumed salads, but sent photos and recipes over tagging All Tressed Up.  Thanks so much, Sis!

Again, thank you all for participating. You'll be hearing from the winner soon enough.

Peace.

Weekly Update: The Go Green Challenge

E-mail Print PDF

Well, it hasn't quite been a full week however I wanted to check in with you all to see if you've been 'Going Green' at least once per day since Wednesday.  There have been a few points earned via Facebook posts and e-mails so I just had to check in.

Confession: I did not eat my salad yesterday.  I know, I know...!!!  I will be having TWO salads today to make up for it, though.  If you're interested in seeing the salads that I am consuming, feel free to follow alltressedup on Instagram.

One of our lovely participants, Ms. Angela Baker, shared this salad photo and recipe.  Yummy! May this motivate you to get it cracking!!!

Recipe

  • 1 bunch broccoli cut into small pieces
  • 1 avocado diced
  • 1/2 cup cherry tomatoes, halved

In a base or organic, aged balsamic vinaigrette (about 1/2 cup) I added the following:

  • dash of tumeric
  • dash of cumin
  • pinch of sea salt
  • 2 tablespoons liquid aminos

Mixed it all up and BAM!

The Go Green Challenge

E-mail Print PDF

This natural beauty thing is quite the journey.  What began with the hair atop my head has moved into a lifelong journey of learning how to properly take care of this temple.  While it can be challenging at times and requires much discipline, it is well worth it!

On a personal note, I am going through quite a considerable amount of life changes.  I won't go into detail, but just know that this woman's life is evolving and I love the movement!  Fears are being shed, growth, maturity and understanding are all coming to the forefront.  My Creator is awesome!

Beginning August 15th (this Wednesday) we are challenging you to one salad per day!  Instead of the usual burger, sandwich or to-go order we are asking you to indulge in a salad. Do you think you can handle it?

With all of the toppings now made available, the combinations are amazing!  Use your creativity to nourish your temple and watch what happens!

LaVida Given By Nature: Carrot & Castor Conditioning Hair Oil

If you've explored the web and various websites, you have almost certainly learned about the benefits of carrot oil and castor oil.  Carrot oil is a wonderful oil to promote healthy scalp and castor oil serves as a humectant and has also been known to stimulate hair growth.

You are already aware of just how impressed I was with the Tahitian Coconut Body Oil, well this one deserves some attention.

Panthenol

During my client consultations, I ask prospective clients to bring in the products they are currently using. We review the products and I make recommendations based on the condition of their hair.  I consider myself to be knowledgeable about some ingredients, but have no problem admitting that I am unclear about others.  One of the ingredients that I commonly see on ingredients lists is panthenol.

Through my reading, I have heard many consider it to be a 'hair plumper', moisturizer...you name it!  After seeing it on a number of products that receive natural hair love, I became a bit curious about the ingredient.  I did my research and came up with my very own understanding of what this ingredient does for our hair and skin.

What is it?

Panthenol is a substance that is commonly used in skin and hair care products.  You may also hear it coined as 'pro-vitamin B'.

Where does it come from?

The substance can be derived from plant, animal or synthetically created.  Based on my findings, there is no way to tell where the instance in your particular product derives.  Many natural or vegan products may include labeling to notify you that the product contains no animal products or may even go as far to place '(plant derived)' behind the ingredient.
